Description
Description
The Yehuda Watson AI™ is a compact, rechargeable professional CVD and HPHT diamond detector combining Yehuda's proven diamond-screening technology with cloud-based AI-assisted stone classification.
Designed for jewellers, diamond dealers, gemologists and laboratories, Watson AI can screen loose diamonds and mounted jewellery, with capacity for approximately 50 carats of loose stones or up to 8 rings at a time.
The AI system uses easy-to-understand colour-coded markers to assist with the classification of Natural Diamond, HPHT, CVD, CZ/other simulants and Moissanite. Results can be stored in the cloud together with images, certificates, SKUs and other product information.
Compact, lightweight and rechargeable, Watson AI brings advanced diamond screening into a highly portable format.

AI Stone Classification
Watson AI uses colour-coded markers to make the AI analysis easy to interpret:
- Blue – Natural Diamond
- Red – HPHT
- Green – CVD
- Pink – CZ / Other Simulants
- Orange – Moissanite
- Black – Refer / AI Uncertain
A black result means the AI is uncertain. The stone should be repositioned and tested again, with manual review used where necessary.
Result screens are marked according to the AI classification, and individual views can be enlarged for closer inspection.
Positive CZ Identification
Watson AI includes technology for the positive identification of Cubic Zirconia, which exhibits distinctive pink fluorescence within the system.
This provides an additional visual indication when screening CZ alongside diamonds and other simulants.
Testing Capacity
Despite its compact dimensions, Watson AI provides a useful testing area for both loose and mounted stones.
- Mounted Jewellery: Up to 8 rings at once
- Loose Diamonds: Approx. 50 ct per test
- Checking Area: Approx. 4.5 × 5 cm / 1.5 × 2.5"
- Checking Height: Approx. 4 cm / 1.5"
This makes Watson AI suitable for both individual testing and higher-volume professional screening.
How the AI Function Works
After completing or saving a test, switch the AI function ON. The system will ask whether you are testing loose or mounted stones.
The cloud-based AI then analyses the test and applies colour-coded classifications to the stones.
For best interpretation, Yehuda recommends reviewing the original image with the AI markings, although other available views can also be selected.
When a test is saved, its AI results are also stored. Once AI processing is complete, reopening the saved test provides immediate access to the generated results.
If a test is downloaded after AI processing is complete, an additional image containing the AI markings over the original stones is included.
Important Information About the AI
The AI system should be treated as an advisory and secondary interpretation tool, rather than the final authority for gemstone identification.
Yehuda recommends:
1. Use your manual interpretation as the primary result.
2. Use the AI result as a secondary check.
3. If the manual and AI results disagree, reposition the stone and test it again.
4. Where uncertainty remains, use appropriate manual review and additional gemological testing.
The AI feature is described as being in ongoing development. According to the supplied manufacturer information, internal testing has demonstrated accuracy above 99%, with continued training and software updates intended to improve performance further.
Yehuda estimates that approximately 100,000 stones per category will be required for the AI to reach its intended optimal accuracy level.
Getting the Best AI Results
Several factors can affect AI interpretation. For the best results:
- Thoroughly clean loose and mounted stones before testing
- Keep loose stones separated and do not allow them to overlap
- Retest rings with side stones from multiple angles
- Reposition stones if strong reflections are present
- Remove strongly glowing HPHT stones and test nearby stones separately where necessary
- Keep stones away from the corners of the tray when possible
- Reposition and retest stones that receive a black / Refer result
- Remove or hide tags, labels and paper, as reflected light may cause incorrect AI interpretation
Connectivity
The Watson AI system uses cloud-based AI processing and therefore requires an active internet connection for AI analysis.
Internet connection speed can affect the time required to generate results. A test can be saved and submitted for AI processing while the operator continues testing other stones.
Important: The AI models themselves do not contain wireless communication or Bluetooth and operate using the specified connecting cable.
Cloud Storage & Back Office
Watson AI includes cloud-based test management for maintaining professional testing records.
The system allows you to:
- Store test results
- Add pictures
- Attach certificates
- Add SKUs and names
- Search previous results
- Compare previous tests
- Delete results
- Transfer results to personal cloud storage
- Manage multiple users
- Review AI confidence information through the Back Office
Approximately 1,000 test results can be stored under the standard subscription, with additional storage available for an extra fee.
Subscription
A cloud subscription is required for the connected AI and data-management services.
- Subscription: $12.50 per month
- Users: Unlimited
- Detectors: Up to 10 per account
- Storage: Up to 1,000 test results
- Software Updates: Included
- Additional Storage: Available for an additional fee
The subscription requirement should be clearly considered before purchasing the instrument.
Portable & Rechargeable
Watson AI has been designed for professionals who need advanced screening without a large benchtop instrument.
- Dimensions: Approx. 90 × 140 × 102 mm
- Weight: Approx. 0.85 kg
- Charging: USB-C
- Design: Compact, lightweight and rechargeable
Its portability makes it particularly suitable for jewellery shops, buying appointments, trade shows, diamond offices and travelling professionals.
Ideal For: Jewellers • Diamond Dealers • Gemologists • Jewellery Retailers • Diamond Buyers • Appraisers • Laboratories • Pawnbrokers • Trade Shows • Travelling Jewellery Professionals
Why Choose Watson AI™?
Watson AI combines portable diamond screening, batch testing and AI-assisted classification in one compact rechargeable instrument.
Its ability to screen approximately 50 ct of loose diamonds or up to 8 rings at once, combined with positive CZ identification, colour-coded AI analysis and cloud-based record management, makes it particularly useful for professional environments where both screening efficiency and documentation are important.
Important Note
Watson AI is a professional screening instrument. AI results should be used as supporting information and not as the sole determination of stone identity. Manual interpretation should remain the primary assessment, with stones repositioned and retested when results are uncertain or inconsistent.
